Blackpool Zoo is just ten minutes from junction 4 on the M55 and 2 miles behind the seafront of Britain’s busiest resort. The Zoo is home to more than 1500 exotic animals that include lions, tigers, Asian elephants, gorillas, orangutans, camels, kangaroos, zebras, red river hogs, sea lions, tapirs, otters, llamas, capybara, large families of rare primates and much, much more. Here you will find a wonderful world of animals and reptiles, also exotic birds in naturalistic environments surrounded by 32 acres of mature parkland and lakes.

MAP & DIRECTIONS

Amazonia - Face to Face

Blackpool Zoo's latest enclosure was originally a free-flight aviary until it succumbed to the weather some years ago. Now topped with a steel mesh dome, this superb, walk-through exhibit houses 5 species of monkey, agouti, black-necked swans, parrots, wildfowl and a pair of spectacular Toco toucans. All these species originate from South America, hence the name of "Amazonia". The enclosure only opened in July 2006 and is proving very popular with visitors as they can be face to face with the animals.

Gorilla Mountain - The Height of Excitement!

The park’s award winning Gorilla Mountain is a breathtaking, close

encounter with these powerful and beautiful animals.

Now a group of 4 adults, Jitu, Njema, Miliki and new arrival from

Barcelona, Kena, enjoy the freedom to roam the island seeking food

and treats strategically hidden by their devoted keepers. Also

neighbouring the gorillas are our wonderful orangutans, Vicky,

Cherie, Summer and the 2 young boys, Beau and Ramon.

They love to play and pull faces at the visitors and can often be seen playing hide and seek in cardboard boxes.

Lemur Wood

Ring-tailed lemurs are probably the most photographed animals in the Zoo! Visitors can get almost nose-to-nose with these fascinating and curious creatures in an outdoor walk-through enclosure.

                                                     Elephant and Reptile House

Housing our four female Asian elephants, Creepy Crawly

Corner, snakes, spiders, reptiles and bugs - there's something

                                                     for everyone.

Miniature Railway

Treat yourselves to a ride on the train which travels from a station near the Education Department to the far side of the Zoo. The track runs through a beautiful woodland setting and offers views of some of our animals. (Please note that the running of the train is weather dependant. For health and safety reasons, it cannot be operated in wet weather or during the winter months.)

Children's Zoo

A chance for younger visitors to meet and even feed some of our friendly, domestic animals in a special walk round area. Miniature donkeys, meerkats, rabbits, guinea pigs, Smokey, the llama, the zebu cattle and various chickens and waterfowl all live here.

Run Wild Play Zone

Two specially designed outdoor play areas are situated in the park to allow supervised little ones top let off steam and mimic the climbing skills of the nearby orangutans.

Dinosaur Safari

Dinosaur Safari is the newest attraction at Blackpool Zoo - Join us on an unforgettable journey back through time to the amazing lost world of the dinosaurs…

Your Dinosaur Safari will take you under the shadows of a giant erupting volcano, past spouting water geysers, over running streams, alongside misty lakes and even behind a living curtain of water. Spectacular lighting and sound effects, horrid smells, thousands of authentic living plants and trees and even a smouldering meteorite bring the prehistoric world vividly to life.
